Jodhpur : In the syndicate meeting of Jayanarayan Vyas University held on 23rd October, it was decided not to give pension to the retired teachers and employees of MBM University from the month of October itself. Under this, the pension of 274 teachers and employees of MBM University has been stopped. Their pension is Rs 1.60 crore every month. Pensioners have now approached the Governor due to stoppage of pension due to mutual tussle between JNVU and MBM University. The pensioners have sent a memorandum saying that orders should be given to JNVU itself to start the pension again.
In November 2021, the state government separated the engineering faculty of JNVU i.e. MBM Engineering College and made it a university, but JNVU itself was paying the pension of the retired employees and teachers of MBM in the last three years. In three years, JNVU, Jodhpur gave fifty crore rupees to the pensioners of MBM. Now JNVU has to borrow money again and again to pay pension to its own employees. Therefore, it was decided not to give pension to MBM pensioners in future.
Income of Rs 50 crore stopped
JNVU says that due to the defunct of its engineering and architecture faculty i.e. MBM Engineering College, the income of about Rs 50 crore has stopped. Due to this, a loan of Rs 20 crore has to be taken annually on interest for pension. According to the Syndicate Minutes, since temporarily the sources of income related to the Engineering Faculty of JNVU from which pensioners of the Engineering Faculty were earlier being given pension, are currently with MBM University. For this reason, the responsibility of pension is being given to MBM University with immediate effect from the month of October.
