South actor Mansoor Ali Khan’s son arrested in drug smuggling case

Chennai, 4 December (IANS). Ali Khan Tughlaq, son of Kollywood actor Mansoor Ali Khan, was arrested by the police on Wednesday along with nine others on charges of possessing and selling drugs.

Ali Khan Tughlaq was arrested after a thorough investigation by Tirumangalam Police in a drug smuggling case.

The police had started the investigation after receiving intelligence that Tughlaq was linked to persons involved in the drug trade. Many of these people were arrested recently. Authorities had earlier arrested 10 persons, including college students, in connection with the drug smuggling network.

Tughlaq was arrested along with Syed Saki, Mohammad Riyas Ali and Faisal Ahmed and all four were kept in police custody for further questioning.

Several cases of international drug syndicates have been reported in Tamil Nadu, in which banned narcotics are smuggled to countries like Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Australia. It is in great demand in these countries.

The local police and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have increased their vigilance following an alert over the use of Tamil Nadu as a transit point for drug smuggling. The Chennai Police recently arrested a foreign national, who is believed to be the mastermind of a gang involved in smuggling the drug methamphetamine into Tamil Nadu.

Arumbakkam police arrested 12 people including Philip in this case.

It is noteworthy that Mansoor Ali Khan is famous for playing the role of villain in South films. He has also worked with actors Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan in the superhit film ‘Leo’.
