Sriganganagar court awarded life imprisonment in kidnapping case

Sriganganagar : Three accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment in a 16-year-old kidnapping case in Anupgarh. ADJ Court 1 ADJ Dr. Mahendra Kumar Goyal has heard the case. In the case, 5 accused had together kidnapped the jeweller’s son. Narayan Singh Kamra had advocated on behalf of the victim.

Advocate Narayan Singh Kamra said that on January 17, 2008, Subhashchand Soni, son of Shriram Soni, resident of Anupgarh, had registered a case of kidnapping in the police station. She told that her son Rishabh (19) did not return home from tuition. Searched for him here and there among his relatives, yet he was not found anywhere. At around 08.15 pm, unknown persons informed about the kidnapping of Rishabh on phone and demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh. On this, the police registered a case and formed a team and made efforts to recover Rishabh.

Being the first case of kidnapping in Anupgarh, the police took it seriously. Police collected details of phone calls coming to the house of complainant Subhash Soni. Apart from this, blockades were put up at various places. The accused had kept Rishabh on rent in Shastri Colony, Raisinghnagar. Meanwhile, two days later, during checking of vehicles at the checkpoint near Padampur, bills of ransom calls made to Subhash Soni from STD and PCO were found in one of the cars. On which the police became alert and started interrogating the two accused in the car.

Advocate Kamra said that on the information of both the accused, Raisinghnagar police recovered Rishabh from a house for rent in Raisinghnagar. In this case, the accused Rakesh, Subhash, Pankaj alias Pinku Premkumar and Sitaram were arrested, Rishabh was recovered from their possession and handed over to his family members.
