Sriganganagar cyber fraud and extortion case

Sriganganagar : A case of fraud of Rs 5 lakh by pretending to be an emergency in the name of a city official has been exposed. Jawaharnagar police has arrested two accused from Chhattisgarh. They will be presented in the court on Monday. SP Gaurav Yadav said that the accused Chandan Vishwas, 48, resident of Tikarapara, Raipur district of Chhattisgarh, Virendra Singh Chauhan, 38, resident of Sanjaynagar, have been arrested.

On September 21, a person called Ajay Chadha, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, calling himself Bikaner STP Rakesh Matwa and citing a medical emergency. The caller stated the need of Rs 5-6 lakh for 15-20 days and mentioned the bank account in the name of his brother-in-law Chandan Vishwas.

Due to the complainant’s acquaintance with STP, Rs 5 lakh 10 thousand were transferred to the said account. On October 16, the complainant called STP Rakesh Matwa and asked for the money back. Then he expressed ignorance about this. After this a case was registered. Investigating officer Naresh Kumar told that Virendra Chauhan had called the complainant Ajay Chadha. He had got the money transferred by telling him the account number of Chandan Vishwas, who lived in front of his house.
