Lakhisarai, 30 November (IANS). State level youth festival started on Saturday in Lakhisarai, Bihar. On the first day, groups of district-wise participants entered Gandhi Maidan dancing with enthusiasm to the tune of the band amidst the rosy cold. Everyone was welcomed by applying tilak on the arch gate.
1,554 participants from 38 districts are participating in this festival. In the inaugural session, under the chairmanship of district in-charge minister Sheela Kumari, chief guest Union Panchayati Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Vijay Kumar Sinha inaugurated the program by offering water to the Peepal tree and lighting the lamp.
During this, the children of Veda Vidyalaya Ashokdham recited Swastivachan and Mangalacharan.
Bihar song was presented collectively by the children of Kilkari.
In her address, Special Secretary, Art Culture Department, Seema Tripathi called upon the youth to perform their best with discipline.
Describing the youth as the leaders of the country, the Union Minister said that they should reflect and strengthen their character and strength and be aware of the continuous efforts for development. He also assured to organize the National Youth Festival in Patna.
In the inaugural session, Patna district was given first prize, Madhubani was given second prize and Lakhisarai was given third prize for better presentation during Kala Yatra.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, in his address, requested the Arts Department to prepare a song by mixing the five languages of Bihar.
In this festival which will run till Monday 2nd December, the creative youth of the state will get a platform to showcase their talent. In this three-day festival, youth-centric programs of about 19 genres like dance, music, speech, photography competition, debate competition, events related to performing arts, cultural programs, painting and exhibition etc. will be organized.
After these competitions, the youth who have performed commendably and excellently will also be encouraged.
