Nagaur : An incident of child theft has come to light in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. On Sunday, a woman stole a child from Bikaner railway station. The child was stolen from Nagaur station and when she was running away, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and GRP arrested her at Nagaur railway station and recovered the child safely.
The innocent girl had disappeared from Bikaner railway station
Giving information about the case, the Nagaur Railway Department said that the victim’s mother had informed the Bikaner Railway Police about her child being stolen. Due to which the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and GRP swung into action and made an announcement at the railway station. On this, they received information that an unknown woman was seen taking the child in a train going towards Nagaur. After this, the teams of both the security forces together caught the woman at the Nagaur railway station.
Baby girl found sleeping in woman’s lap
Ladu Ram, GRP Thanadhikari of Merta Road of the district, said that on August 31, GRP-RPF Nagaur received information that a woman was running away after stealing a child in train number 19226 Jammu Tawi-Bhagat Ki Kothi Express. As soon as the train reached Nagaur, the alert GRP and RPF team searched for the woman and the child in the coach of the train. During the search, the team found the child sleeping in the lap of the woman. When the police questioned her on suspicion, the woman misled them and said that she had found the child abandoned in the train and she was just taking care of her. However, other passengers of the train told that they had seen the child with Mamta earlier also. On this, the police took the woman into custody and interrogated her thoroughly, due to which the truth came out.
I stole from my mother when she was sleeping
On this, the police first arrested the accused woman on the basis of suspicion. After this, the police team immediately handed over the girl to the Nagaur Child Helpline Team. And informed the girl’s parents at Bikaner railway station. After which the mother of the innocent girl reached Nagaur to pick her up. After handing over the girl to her mother, the police arrested the woman and strictly interrogated her about the whole matter. In which she identified herself as Mamta, living in Sonipat, Haryana. Also told that she is currently living in Aamasar of Deshnok police station area. In further interrogation, she told that she had picked up the girl from her sleeping mother from Lalgarh railway station in Bikaner and boarded the Jammutavi-Bhagat Ki Kothi Express and left for Nagaur.
Strict interrogation made him confess his crime
Police said that the woman first tried to mislead them, but on strict interrogation she told that she had found the child in an abandoned condition in the train and she was just taking care of him. However, other passengers of the train told that they had seen the child with Mamta earlier also. On this, the police took the woman into custody and interrogated her thoroughly, due to which the truth came out.
