Stopping Rahul Gandhi from regaining control is condemnable: Priyanka Mishra

Lucknow, 4 December (IANS). Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, who had set out to visit Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, were stopped by the state police at the Delhi-UP border and sent back. He reached Ghazipur border of Delhi-UP border at 10:40 am and stayed there for about two hours. During this time, Rahul and Priyanka talked to the police officials several times, but no solution was found. This was strongly condemned by UP Congress Legislature Party leader Priyanka Mishra ‘Mona’.

Speaking to IANS, he said, “Rahul Gandhi, who is the leader of the opposition and holds a constitutional post, is an MP from Uttar Pradesh, stopping him at the border in his home state is completely condemnable. Is this a violation of Section 154? This is not applicable in Uttar Pradesh. What is the truth that the Bharatiya Janata Party government wants to hide by stopping it? if he goes, he Will it come to light? This is complete anarchy and hooliganism of the government, which is trying to stop people through the police. Rahul Gandhi has been stopped today, but he has made it clear that he will definitely be careful.

He further said, “Rahul Gandhi has said that if the administration allows, he can go alone. All the government should do is to give an opportunity to the families whose five members were killed to express their condolences. The government should ensure their safety. As many people as the administration allows can go, but we should be allowed to go.”

On the farmers’ movement, he said, “Farmers are the gods of the earth. They are continuously agitating for their demands, but they are being stopped. For the last three years, farmers have been trying to reach Delhi on the border of UP, but they are being stopped.” It is very sad that we are labeling those farmers as terrorists. This is a dictatorship. The government should listen to the words of one person. No Rather, these are the problems of the entire farmers. The government should listen to the farmers, find a solution to their issues and give them a chance to express their views peacefully.”

He said, “The Agriculture Minister and the Prime Minister should communicate with the farmers. Big problems can be solved through dialogue. What is the problem in talking to the farmers? The Prime Minister travels around the world, but does not come to meet the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. Why doesn’t he go? Why isn’t he ready to talk to the farmers’ representatives? This lack of communication is harmful for the farmers.”
