Subhash Ghai is fine: Spokesperson

Mumbai, December 8 (IANS). The spokesperson of film producer Subhash Ghai said late on Saturday evening that the condition of the director admitted in Lilavati Hospital, Bandra is now fine.

The spokesperson said in a statement that the director has been admitted for routine check-up. He said, “We would like to confirm that Subhash Ghai is absolutely fine. He has been admitted for routine check-ups and his condition is improving. Thank you all for your love and concern.”

Earlier, the hospital said in a statement that he had a history of ischemic heart disease and was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. He was admitted to the ICU under the care of Dr. Rohit Deshpande.

Subhash Ghai started his career as an actor in Bollywood. He did small roles in films like ‘Taqdeer’ and ‘Aradhana’. Later he played lead roles in films like ‘Omang’ and ‘Gumrah’. However, his career as an actor did not achieve much success after which he turned to direction.

He is known for ‘Kalicharan’, ‘Vishwanath’, ‘Karz’, ‘Hero’, ‘Vidhaata’, ‘Meri Jung’, ‘Karma’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Pardes’ and ‘Taal’. Known for films like.

In 2006, he received the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues for producing the social problem film ‘Iqbal’. The same year he founded the Whistling Woods International Film and Media Institute in Mumbai.

Recently, the filmmaker attended the 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India in Goa, where his memoir, ‘Karma Ka Balak: The Story of the Last Showman of Indian Cinema’ was released. His musical ‘Taal’ was also screened in this festival.
