Jaipur : Recently you must have heard a case from Neemkathana district of Rajasthan in which the bride refused to get married after the groom demanded dowry. But in a wedding in the same Rajasthan, the bride’s family happily gave her son-in-law a Creta car worth lakhs of rupees and cash worth Rs 5 lakh, but the bride rejected it and brought the bride home with Shagun’s coin of Re 1.
‘I don’t want dowry, I want a daughter as my daughter-in-law’
This marriage took place of Hitesh, son of social worker Inder Singh of Bhobia village of Pilani block. Where Hitesh’s in-laws gave him a car for the Tilak ceremony and cash worth Rs 5 lakh but Hitesh refused to accept it. Hitesh’s father Inder Singh said that I do not want dowry, I want a daughter as my daughter-in-law.
Kept requesting for cash and car, but groom did not agree
Presently daughters are being harassed due to dowry. We should together resolve to end this practice. Let us tell you that Hitesh’s marriage took place with Anju Gandhi, daughter of Dharampal Gandhi, President of Adarsh Samaj Samiti India. Hitesh’s in-laws also requested him to keep the car and cash. But Hitesh also flatly refused to take it. Hitesh said that in the society the daughter-in-law is considered to be the form of Lakshmi. If Lakshmi is coming to the house then what is the need of a car and cash. The arrival of daughter-in-law brings happiness in the house. But dowry becomes a burden on life.
Even MLA and Commissioner had come to the wedding!
Many public representatives and dignitaries including Pilani MLA Pitram, retired Additional Commissioner Jaisingh were present in this wedding ceremony. Who have appreciated this decision of the groom and say that this step is very inspiring for the society. Which is a good message to end the dowry system prevalent in the society.
