Sudhir Garg opened a laundry in Damoh by taking loan through PMEGP scheme, providing employment to four people.

Damoh, 12 November (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious (PMEGP) scheme is proving to be a milestone for the young generation of the country. Hundreds of youth in Bundelkhand region have changed their fortunes by benefiting from this scheme. A glimpse of this was seen in Damoh district.

In fact, Sudhir Garg, a resident of Bansa Tarkheda village of Patharia block, not only started his own business by joining the PMEGP scheme and taking a loan from the bank, but also changed the fortunes of four other unemployed people by providing them employment.

However, every youth of the village dreams of moving forward with new thinking. The story of one of these, Sudhir Garg, has become an example for other youth. Actually, Sudhir’s story teaches that if you are not able to achieve your goal then there is no need to give up and remain sad, rather there are other paths to success. Sudhir first stayed in Delhi and prepared for UPSC, but when there was no hope at all, he went to Chandigarh, where Sudhir worked in a five star hotel.

Sudhir Garg lost his job during the Corona period. The grandparents in the village were suffering from cancer and there was no one to take care of them. Sudhir came to the village with the intention of serving his old grandparents. Sudhir told that he had the idea of a laundry, but there was a shortage of funding. I took a loan through PMEGP scheme and opened a laundry. I did not face any problem in taking loan from the bank.

Very few people in Damoh city knew about laundry. There was some trouble in the beginning, but now things have changed. I have also provided employment to four people. Now it has become famous in the city. The monthly income is around Rs 1 lakh. From this goes the bank loan installment and rent. The four people working here lose their salaries. It hasn’t been long. It is expected to increase further in future.

Beneficiary Sudhir Garg said that no work is small or big. It is the era of technology. He told that first of all the clothes are put in the big washing machine to wash. Later the washed cloth is ironed in a corner. Clothes are packed near it. We also have special facilities. If a person wants to get his clothes washed, we collect the clothes from that person’s home through WhatsApp location. There were a lot of problems in the beginning, but now it is a lot of fun to work.

He further said that the youth have no dearth of plans. Youth face financial obstacles. Now PM Modi has launched many other schemes for the youth apart from PMEGP scheme, in which there is government subsidy.

Omkar Ahirwar, who got employment from Sudhir, is a resident of Patharia station. He told that Sudhir Bhaiya established his own employment and connected us also with employment. Our household is running with the income from this employment. My wife Aarti Ahirwar also gets remuneration. Due to which my family is well looked after.

Omkar Ahirwar’s wife Aarti Ahirwar said that earlier one had to wander for employment. But, ever since Sudhir Garg started Dehati Laundry, the house has regained its glory. The days of all troubles are gone. Both of us, husband and wife, come to Damoh from Patharia in the morning and return back late in the evening. Ever since we started working here, the children are being looked after well.

Regarding this scheme, Bank Manager Narendra Soni said that the government provides three types of loan facilities for the small business class under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Loan Scheme. This includes Kishore Loan, Shishu Loan and Tarun Loan. The amount given in Kishore Loan ranges from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh. Under Shishu Loan, a loan of Rs 50,000 is available, while under Tarun Loan, funds are provided to start a business without any guarantee at a low interest rate of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. In the month of June 2024, loans have been given to 455 people under PM Mudra Yojana, while 1105 people have been given loans under Kishore Loan and 368 people have been given loans under Tarun Loan. The total amount of these three loans has reached approximately Rs 37 crore. The specialty of this scheme is that small traders get interest subsidy under it, which helps them financially in starting business. To avail the benefit of this loan, applications are sent through the Industries Department to the nearest bank branch, from where the amount is given to the concerned beneficiaries to start employment.
