Jaipur : The supply chain of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), which is around 13 rupees cheaper than petrol, has been disrupted in Jaipur for many days. On Tuesday, 80% of the 28 CNG pumps in the city went dry and the operators put up boards saying CNG is not available. Long queues of CNG vehicles were seen at several pumps in the city. CNG vehicle drivers who came from other states faced the most trouble and they kept wandering around the pumps for several hours to fill CNG. While 1.5 lakh kilos of CNG was being sold daily at the pumps seven days ago, it reduced to half on Tuesday.

CNG is cheaper than petrol by Rs 13. In such a situation, more than 1 lakh 50 thousand kg of CNG is consumed daily at 28 pumps in the city. But in seven days this consumption has reduced to half. Whether gas is available at the pump or not, CNG drivers are running their vehicles by filling petrol in them. CNG is supplied to Jaipur from Neemrana and Jobner. Due to rain, there has been some problem in CNG transportation. Gas supply will be restored in normal manner again in two-three days.
Such situation has been prevailing at CNG pumps since the past one week. Vehicles bring gas to the pump in the morning and then the supply remains stopped till evening. In such a situation, CNG pumps are running in dry condition for seven to eight hours every day. After Tuesday afternoon, queues of vehicles were seen for CNG in different areas of the city including three CNG pumps on Tonk Road. Pump operators kept assuring the drivers that gas would come in an hour or two but vehicles did not come. When the situation worsened, pump operators put up boards saying CNG not available.
