Supreme Court’s decision on bulldozer action commendable: Mohammad Adeeb

New Delhi, November 14 (IANS). After the Supreme Court declared the bulldozer action unconstitutional, former Rajya Sabha MP Mohammad Adeeb has called it a historic and just decision. He also strongly criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement ‘If you divide, you will be cut’.

Describing the Supreme Court’s decision on the bulldozer action as better late than never, Mohammad Adeeb said, “This is a timely decision and we understand that whatever the law says, what humanity says, the Supreme Court has done the right thing. This is an important The decision was because the question was being raised in the society that why the court was silent while people were being looted. This decision shows that the poor and the oppressed can still get justice in institutions like the Supreme Court.

Adeeb raised questions on half the aspect of this decision and said that half the victory has been achieved, but what will happen to those whose world was destroyed and who came on the streets? Will those victims get any compensation? He said that the court should have also paid attention to this aspect and helped those people whose lives were destroyed due to these bulldozer actions. Those people may now have to go back to the courts to see if they are in a position to recover their lost property or rights.

Responding to CM Yogi’s statement of ‘If you divide, you will be divided’, he said, “Only the person who has such thinking gives such statements.” Taking aim at CM Yogi, he said that he himself is a controversial person, who had withdrawn the criminal case against him after becoming the Chief Minister, whereas he makes such allegations against others. He said, “This man himself was involved in serious cases like attempt to murder and got the cases against him dropped after becoming the Chief Minister. What can you expect from such a person? Such statements are made only for electoral gains, And such statements put Indian politics in deeper crisis.”

Adeeb termed Yogi Adityanath’s statement as a “stain” on the country’s democratic system and said that “such statements are like a stain on our democracy.” Such statements are made only for political gains and spread more hatred and violence in the society. It is extremely regrettable that such statements are being made. Such statements insult the country’s Constitution and its democratic institutions.

He warned that such statements would cause long-term disinformation and damage to Indian politics. It is time that we try to revive our ‘Idea of India’. For this, we will have to stay away from communal and violent rhetoric and work for the unity and integrity of the country.
