In the neurosurgery department of SMS Hospital, surgery is not being done through neuro navigation for the last eight months. . The reason is that the hospital administration is not able to provide the equipment required to perform neuro navigation. Now, due to non-functioning of this machine, the neurosurgery department is not able to get the help provided by the machine for complex surgeries and the surgeries are not being done at the level and quality they should be.
Doctors of the Neurosurgery Department say that in the last 7 months, they have given written and oral information to the authorities several times, but till now the equipment has not been received. It is known that due to lack of equipment in the hospital, even the robot worth Rs 50 crore had stopped being used. Neuro navigation machine was purchased in the Neurosurgery Department of SMS to perform such complex surgeries including brain tumors which were difficult to perform in the normal way.
After purchasing this modern machine, it became much easier to perform such complex surgeries in the department, which even senior doctors had to put in a lot of effort to perform. With its help, more than 100 such complex surgeries were done, but now due to non-availability of equipment, such surgeries of patients got stuck. In this case, Head of Neurosurgery Department, Dr. Manish Aggarwal said that neuro navigation is not being used. Surgeries have been closed for about 8 months and the administration has been informed about this several times.
