Mumbai, November 16 (IANS). Before the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the action of the Election Commission’s surveillance team is going on in the state. Meanwhile, the surveillance team seized Rs 5 crore 55 lakh during vehicle checking in Kalyan Rural, Maharashtra on Saturday. This cash has been recovered from an ATM van.
The election officer said that due to the assembly elections in Maharashtra, Model Code of Conduct is in force. In view of this, checking was done by the surveillance team and Rs 5 crore 55 lakh were recovered from a van. When the driver was asked for documents, he did not show any documents.
He further said, “As per rules, if an amount of more than Rs 10 lakh is seized, it is informed to the Income Tax Department. The amount recovered during this action has been handed over to the Income Tax Department officer. Further action will be taken.” Is going.”
It is being told that the van from which the surveillance team has recovered the cash, belongs to Hitachi Cash Management Company. However, not much is known about the owner of the rupee.
Earlier on November 7, Mandvi police of Maharashtra had caught a van filled with Rs 2 crore 80 lakh.
It is noteworthy that elections in Maharashtra will be held in one phase. Elections for 288 assembly seats will be held on November 20, while counting of votes will take place on November 23.
