Damascus, December 2 (IANS). The Syrian army announced on Monday that it had stepped up operations against rebel forces in the northern provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. The army claimed that more than 400 terrorists have been killed in the last 24 hours with the support of Russian forces.
According to Xinhua news agency, in a statement issued by the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces, the army said that five command centers and seven ammunition depots of the terrorists were destroyed in the targeted air, missile and artillery strikes.
“Over the past 24 hours, our armed forces, together with troops from our ally Russia in Syria, have struck terrorist targets, their warehouses, supply lines and transportation routes in the rural areas of Aleppo and Idlib,” the statement said. “Continued to attack with air, missiles and artillery.”
The army said that more than 400 terrorists from different countries were killed in the recent precision strikes.
The statement said the Syrian army had begun advances on several fronts in rural areas of Aleppo, Hama and Idlib provinces. The statement said that additional military forces are reaching the front lines.
The military command has rejected reports that rebel groups have taken control of towns and villages, terming such claims as ‘false propaganda’.
