‘Take compensation from those who instigate violence’, SP MLA Abu Azmi said on violence

Mumbai, 6 December (IANS). On Friday, tributes were paid to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar across the country on his death anniversary. On the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Maharashtra Samajwadi Party President and MLA Abu Azmi remembered the works of Babasaheb. He also reacted to the Sambhal violence.

When asked by IANS that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath linked the Sambhal violence to the violence in Bangladesh and said that the violence there and the violence here have similar “DNA”, Abu Azmi said, “I understand.” I believe that his DNA is the same which is linked to the violence taking place in Bangladesh. Here the violence is not happening from the Muslims, rather these people themselves are spreading violence. They are removing temples under every mosque and demolishing the houses of Muslims. If it is true that this is happening in Bangladesh, then the DNA of both of them is the same.

Regarding compensation, he said, “Compensation for this violence should be taken from those who instigated the violence, not from those who suffered losses.” Compensation should be taken from those lawyers and people who went to conduct the survey without any proper notice. I would also tell the court that a normal case lasts for many years, but here everything was done in a single day. All this has been done together. If there is any loss, the same people who did all this are responsible.”

Reacting to the recovery of a wad of currency notes from Rajya Sabha MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s seat, the MLA said, “This is a serious issue.” Fifty thousand rupees is not a small amount, but if such a huge amount is recovered from the table of a leader, then serious questions arise. The question also arises whether the law and order is working properly in our country? Complete transparency should be shown in this matter.

Talking about Babri Masjid, he said, “The issue of Babri Masjid is very sensitive. When the statues were placed there in 1949, it was a crime. Then in 1986, when Rajiv Gandhi ji opened the lock and started the puja, that was also a crime. Then in 1992, Babri Masjid was demolished, which was a crime in itself. Now that the law has decided, we should accept that decision. We may be sad internally, but it is necessary to follow the law.

On the death anniversary of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, MLA Abu Azmi said, “The way Babasaheb Ambedkar fought for the oppressed sections of the society, his struggle was very impressive. He not only brought about reservation but also made equal laws for all citizens, whether one belonged to the highest class of the society or was a beggar on the street. Their constitution provides equality and justice to all.

He said, “Today some people are trying to break the Constitution which Babasaheb had made for all of us. We are proud that in our country a great leader like Babasaheb was born, who was not only great but also the creator of our Constitution. I have come today to pay my tribute to him and respect and love him from my heart.
