Bikaner : The previous Congress government opened English medium schools in the name of Mahatma Gandhi in every district of the state, but the teachers to teach in them were appointed from Hindi medium schools. After this, in the name of improving the system, about four and a half thousand assistant teachers were recruited on contract for one year. Now the one-year tenure of these teachers is going to end after two days. The sword of unemployment is hanging over these teachers.
These contractual teachers were hoping that the government could remove them from the contract and make them permanent. The government has not given any indication of extending their tenure. This has caused disappointment among them. The next two days are going to be very difficult for them, because from 28th July these people will become unemployed.
A year ago, 4500 teachers were appointed in English medium schools in the state under Assistant Teacher Level I and Level II Contract Recruitment 2023. These teachers used to get a remuneration of Rs 16,900 per month. Apart from this, conditions like reimbursement of mediclaim policy premium of Rs 1500 per year, reimbursement of 50 percent of self-deposited contribution under New Pension Scheme and accident insurance were also included. The matter of extending the tenure of teachers on contract for one year is pending before the government. If the tenure is extended, it will be informed in time.
