There is an ancient temple of ‘Diwak Mata’ in Jolar Gram Panchayat of Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan. This is the same temple where devotees come from far and wide to offer handcuffs and shackles to the Mother Goddess.
Thousands of handcuffs have been placed in a 200-year-old trident buried in the premises of this ancient temple. The story of providing shackles and handcuffs is also very interesting.
It is said that dacoits used to rule in the forest of Malwa. Whenever the robbers came to this temple, they used to offer shackles and handcuffs to the Mother Goddess. Bandits used to pray here. Whenever he escaped from the clutches of the police, he used to come here and get handcuffs and shackles.
According to the local people, Prithvirana, a famous dacoit, had made a vow to Diwak Mata in the jail that if he was successful in breaking out of the jail and escaping, he would come straight here for darshan. After some time, his chains broke and he was successful in escaping from the jail.
Since then, people come here to offer handcuffs and shackles to this temple to free their family members from jail.
