Bundi : Lawyer Manav Singh Rathore, accused of raping an American woman, has been shot. Late Thursday night, he was admitted to Ajmer division’s biggest Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital under suspicious circumstances, where his treatment is going on. At present, his condition is out of danger and a team of doctors is monitoring him.
Bullet fired while cleaning gun
Giving information, ASI Hukumchand Chaudhary of Nasirabad police station said that Manav Singh Rathod and his companions were at a friend’s house in Nasirabad. During this time, while cleaning a 12 bore gun, the gun fired, due to which pellets hit Manav Singh Rathod’s leg and chest. In a seriously injured condition, his friends first took him to a private hospital, where doctors gave first aid and referred Manav to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital.
Recorded statement of the victim
Just a few hours before this incident, Ajmer Police’s Special Investigation Unit for Crime Against Women called the victim from Bundi and recorded her statement. Deputy Superintendent of the unit Nemichand Chaudhary said that the foreign woman has accused different people at different places of money transactions, cheating, use of criminal force and rape. Investigation of the case has been started. Her statement will be recorded in the court today.
Zero FIR was registered in Bundi
The victim woman had lodged a zero FIR with the help of an NGO in Bundi, which has now been transferred to Ajmer Civil Lines Police. In her complaint, the woman said that she had befriended Manav through Facebook. He had called her to India. When she reached Delhi, Manav received her at the airport and then both of them came to Jaipur together. Here he raped her in a hotel. Then from here Manav brought the woman to Ajmer, and raped her in the hotel for the next several days. When the woman asked him to marry her, he pretended to marry her in a temple in Ajmer. But he did not take her home. When one day the woman herself reached his house asking for his address, she was stunned to see his wife and children there. After this she lodged a complaint in the police station.
