After a long political struggle and completion of the legal process, Munesh Gurjar was suspended from the post of Mayor in Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation on Monday night. With this, the process of crowning the acting mayor has intensified.
The name will be announced today
UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra said that the acting mayor will be crowned in Nagar Nigam Heritage on Tuesday morning i.e. today. The minister said that the post of mayor in Jaipur Heritage is reserved for OBC woman. Discussions have been held with the councillors in this matter. Today, after discussion with state president Madan Rathore, BJP MPs and MLAs in the BJP office, the name of the acting mayor will be announced.
Happiness among Congress councilors
After the suspension of Munesh Gurjar, Congress councillors also met Jhabar Singh Kharra and congratulated him by feeding him sweets. Half a dozen Congress councillors indicated to support the acting mayor of BJP. While 2 out of 9 independent councillors have already supported BJP. Others may announce joining BJP today.
Figures are with BJP
Talking about the maths of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation, 51 councillors are required for majority in 100 wards of the corporation. Congress had 47, BJP had 42 and 11 independent councillors. After the suspension of Munesh Gurjar, the number of Congress councillors has gone up to 46. Whereas, since half a dozen Congress councillors and 9 independent councillors support BJP, there will be no problem in making BJP the acting mayor.
Direct contest between 3 councillors
Six councillors in Heritage Nagar Nigam are from the original OBC. These include Kusum Yadav, Lalita Jaiswal, Kapila Kumawat, Sonal Jangid, Babita Kanwar and Barkha Saini. There seems to be a direct contest between three of these councillors for the post of acting mayor.
Contenders for the post of Heritage Mayor-
Lalita Jaiswal:- Husband Sanjay Jaiswal has been the state media in-charge of Yuva Morcha. He has also looked after the work of Yuva Morcha in Sikar, Dausa and Karauli. BJP’s youth lobby is working for him and many leaders of the organization are with him.
Kusum Yadav:- Kusum Yadav, who became a councillor for the second time, did not get a councillor ticket from BJP this time, so she rebelled and contested the election as an independent. After winning, BJP made her the mayor candidate, but she lost the election. Her husband Ajay Yadav is also active in politics. He himself has been a councillor and also a chairman.
Kapila Kumawat:- She is a councillor from the Parkote. Her husband Vijaypal Kumawat is the president of the Dhundhar Council. Many BJP leaders including former state president Satish Poonia, former MP Ramcharan Bohra and former MLA Mohanlal Gupta are lobbying for her.
Sonal Jangid:- She is a councillor from Hawamahal assembly constituency. Former MLA Surendra Pareek and many officials of the organization are lobbying for her.
