Amer is a beautiful city located in Rajasthan, after which this fort is named. It was built by Raja Man Singh and completed in 1592. The fort is spread over 1.5 square miles on the top of the hill, from where you can see the spectacular view of the city of Amer.
History of Amer Fort
Amer Fort is located parallel to Jaigarh Fort and both these forts are connected by a paved road below. The purpose of building it was to protect the fort from enemies. The construction of Amer Fort was first started by King Kakil Dev in the 11th century, but later it was completed by Raja Man Singh in 1592. Amer Fort is a monument of the medieval period.

Major palaces and places of Amer Fort
Mansingh Mahal- This is the oldest palace of Amer Fort, which was built by Raja Mansingh. Which is worth seeing.
Sheesh Mahal- It will be a memorable experience to see the Sheesh Mahal in the fort. It is a room surrounded by mirrors, in which the whole room gets illuminated by a ray of light. The song Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya from the famous Bollywood film Mughal-e-Azam was shot in this palace.
Diwan-e-Aam of Amer Fort- As soon as you enter the Amer Fort, right in front of you is a huge rectangular building made of forty marble pillars. It is said that the king’s court used to be held here. This building was built by Raja Jai Singh.
Suhag Mandir- There are many large windows on the top floor of the Amer Fort. Which is known as “Suhag Mandir”. Queens and women used to watch the royal court and other events from these windows.
Not only Bollywood but many Hollywood films have also been shot in this fort of Rajasthan. These include films like Bajirao Mastani, Shuddh Desi Romance, Mughal-e-Azam, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Jodha Akbar. A light and sound show is also organized every evening in the fort. Which is really amazing to watch. But for this you will have to buy a separate ticket.
Right time to visit
The best months to visit here are October to March. Although it is cold in most places, the weather here is absolutely perfect for visiting.

You will get direct deluxe and state transport buses to Jaipur from cities like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana. Amer Fort is located at a distance of about 11 km from Jaipur city, so you will have to book a taxi from Jaipur.
