The condition of law and order was bad during the five-year rule of Ashok Gehlot: Satish Poonia

Jodhpur, 16 November (IANS). Congress leader Ashok Gehlot had recently targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party over its slogan ‘If we divide, we will be cut’, he had said that the public was being intimidated by speaking such language. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Satish Poonia, who came to attend a program in Jodhpur, has reacted to this.

He said, “There is nothing like that. BJP had strongly criticized the incidents that took place during Ashok Gehlot’s government, after which he was ousted from power. If he raises questions now, he should look deep inside himself and see how much law and order had deteriorated in the last five years of his rule. The legacy he left was to weaken policing, and hence the situation that had arisen in Rajasthan, the BJP government has worked to improve in the last five years.”

He further said, “In a democracy, elections are contested, votes are given to anyone, but the freedom we have got under our Constitution should be followed with dignity. Violence should have no place in democracy. Our aim should be to maintain dignity and decorum in the society. In democracy, the contribution of politicians, administrative officials, and common citizens is all important, and when they work together, it benefits any state and country. Therefore, it is important for the relationship between the two to be correct, so that such incidents do not recur. I think, this is a lesson for all political parties.”

Let us tell you that Congress leader Ashok Gehlot had recently targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party on the slogan of ‘If we divide, we will be divided’ and ‘If we are united, we will be safe’, he said, what kind of language is this? What would the countrymen be thinking? The public is being directly intimidated. In a democracy, elections are fought on issues.
