Ajmer : SC-ST Court Judge Dr. Renu Srivastava on Friday punished Jaswant Singh, accused of father’s murder, with life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. The accused was accused of killing his sleeping father by pouring boiling oil on him. The deceased had retired from the post of reader in the SC-ST court itself.
5 year old case
In the report lodged at Alwar Gate police station on August 29, 2019, it was told that Ram Singh was sleeping in the house. While his son was in the room on the roof. After heating the oil on the heater there, he poured it on the face and body of his father Ram Singh who was sleeping below. Ram Singh was admitted to JLN Hospital in a burnt condition. Due to his critical condition, the then Judicial Magistrate (No. 4) Kavita Kachhawa took his dying declaration in the hospital. Since the hands were burnt, a toe impression was taken as a signature. Ram Singh died during treatment two days later.
The son had committed suicide
According to the case, Jaswant, son of Ram Singh, resident of Dholabhata, had a love marriage with a railway worker woman. Both of them lived together for about 3 months but then there was a rift between them. The woman filed a case against Jaswant. Ram Singh did not support his son Jaswant in this matter. Angered by this, Jaswant killed his father Ram Singh. The accused is in jail since then. On behalf of the prosecution, Special Public Prosecutor Manzoor Ali presented 20 witnesses and 23 documents. Making a scathing comment in the decision, the court wrote that it is not appropriate to show any kind of leniency towards a criminal who heinously murdered his father.
