Jaipur : No government has been able to make a plan for the development of Jawahar Nagar slum, which is one of the biggest slums in the capital. With the increase in population, there is a shortage of facilities here. The remaining task was completed by the politicians. To save their vote bank, the politicians did not allow the slum to develop and kept settling people as per their wishes. A slum development policy was made in the state, but it could not come out of the files. Meanwhile, the Gujarat government is working on a similar policy and is providing relief to the people living in slums. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is removing thousands of people from slums and building permanent houses for them.
Vacant flats, settlements populated
The needy could not get access to the houses built under the BSUP Awas Yojana in Swapnalok Yojana on Sikar Road. There are 588 houses here. There was also talk of renting out these houses, but no work was done on this either. The houses have been lying vacant since 2016.
Ahmedabad… No burden on the people or on the government
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation gave the responsibility of ending slums to the builders. Not only did they give free housing to the people living in slums, but they also bore the rent of other places during the construction of houses. In return, the government gave land to these builders. They earned profit from there.
Survey is going on in Dharavi, systematic development will happen
mumbai Survey work of Dharavi slum is going on. This work is being done under Dharavi slum rehabilitation project. After the survey is completed, the work of building houses will start here. There is a plan to provide 350 square feet houses to eligible people. Maharashtra government will not displace anyone from Dharavi. Some people will be given houses in Mumbai itself under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for Rs 2.5 lakh. 10 percent commercial area has been included in the scheme. According to an estimate, a population of 10 lakh lives here. Apart from this, there is also a plan to organize the basic work there. It is believed that slowly the laborers started building huts on the said land. At that time the government departments did not pay attention. Even today, the land on which the slum is located belongs to many government departments.
