The matter of providing free uniforms to 56 lakh students of Jhalawar state is stuck in the tender.

Jhalawar News Desk: More than 56 lakh children studying in government schools across the state including the district are still waiting for free uniforms even after half the session has passed. Now in the harsh winter, students are in need of two uniforms but the government scheme is still stuck in the tender process. In such a situation, lakhs of poor students across the state are waiting for uniforms. In such a situation, students at some places are working without uniforms and at other places by getting them tailored at their own pace. In such a situation, questions are being raised about the usefulness of the scheme. It is noteworthy that the free uniform scheme was started by the previous Congress government in November 2022. About 1.25 lakh students are waiting for uniform in Jhalawar district.

Same situation last year also

In the last academic session also, the situation was similar regarding the scheme for distribution of free uniforms to students from classes 1 to 8. The then Congress government did not give the budget for this on time. Later only uniform cloth was given. The children had to wait even for the budget of Rs 200 for sewing. In such a situation, students can get their uniforms stitched and wear them in November-December. However, many students had taken money from their parents to get their uniforms stitched. This time too November will pass, but it is not known when the uniforms will be available.

the wait is increasing

Under the scheme, children studying from class 1st to 8th in government schools are provided free uniform, cloth and sewing money. According to Shala Darpan, currently 56 lakh 68 thousand 253 students are studying in government schools of the state. Those who are waiting for free uniform.

Process stuck in tender

According to sources, the School Education Council invited tenders for purchasing uniforms. In which only firms having experience in textile manufacturing and sewing can participate. The problem is that textile manufacturing companies only work in textile production. Sewing work is done by readymade garments companies. Due to this condition the tender could not be finalized. The tender process will be completed only after the tender conditions are amended, but it is not known when the amendment will be done, while only half the session has passed.
