City Palace Jaipur is an architectural wonder that served as the administrative seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur until 1949. The City Palace Jaipur was built between 1729 and 1732 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who belonged to the Kachwaha Rajput dynasty. He was the founder of Jaipur city. Their earlier capital was Amer, which is located at a distance of 11 kilometers from Jaipur. With population growth and water shortage, he decided to shift the capital to Jaipur. He approached Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, a notable architect of that time, to design the architecture of the city. Within four years, major palaces were built in the city, including the City Palace Jaipur, located in the central north-east part of the city. The Palace was the venue for various religious and cultural events.

To enter the City Palace, Indians have to pay Rs 75, children Rs 40 and foreigners Rs 300. Apart from this, if you want to take photos here and carry a camera, then you will have to pay a separate fee of Rs 50 and Rs 150 for videography. City Palace is a historical site of Jaipur and a very popular tourist destination. Apart from the royal architecture, this palace offers a spectacular view of the Pink City and also gives an insight into the rich heritage of the bygone era. Apart from visiting the City Palace, you can also visit other sightseeing places around it.

The best time to visit Jaipur is between October and March. This is because this month is relatively cool. For your information, let us tell you that the City Palace is quite big and has many sections which are completely open and hence it is good to visit this place before the sun rises. Being a part of Rajasthan, Jaipur is very hot during summer.
