Rajasthan : The first Shravan Monday is being celebrated along with the third Monday of Sawan in Vagad of Dungarpur district in the southern-northern part of Rajasthan. Due to this, a huge crowd of devotees has gathered in the Shiva temples here. The devotees prayed for the well-being of their family by offering water to their God with devotion. Here in every temple, the chants of Har Har Mahadev kept echoing with devotion.

According to Gujarati belief, Hariyali Amavasya is considered to be the beginning of Shravan month in Dungarpur, Banswara and border areas of Gujarat tomorrow i.e. Sunday. After this, today Monday is considered to be the first Monday of Shravan here. Due to Shravan Monday, a huge crowd of devotees gathered in Shiva temples since morning. In the city’s Naya Mahadev Temple, Dhaneshwar Shivalaya and other Shiva temples, devotees performed Abhishek with chanting of mantras in the presence of Pandit Hariprasad Dave in Brahma Muhurta. Bilva leaves and flowers were offered to Lord Shiva. Along with this, wishes were made while worshiping Lord Shiva.
Why is the third Monday of Sawan considered the first Monday in Wagand
According to astrologers, the calculation of Hindi month is done on the basis of the increasing and decreasing phases of the moon and its fullness from the period of completion of one cycle of the dates of Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. These dates are valid everywhere. But in the Vagad region, one month of the Hindi year starts 15 days later. This is the reason that at other places, the calculation of Hindi month is done from Poornima to Poornima, whereas in the Vagad region, it is done from Amavasya to Amavasya. This is the reason for this difference. Apart from this, one of the main reasons behind the start of Sawan month 15 days later in the Vagad region is the movement of the Sun and the passing of the Tropic of Cancer from here. According to the pundits and astrologers of the city, the Sun enters the Tropic of Cancer from Guru Purnima date. From this date, the month of Ashadh ends everywhere and Sawan begins, but in Vagad, the first Amavasya i.e. Hariyali Amavasya coming after this date is considered to be the beginning of Sawan.
