The nuances of land survey will be learned at the Udaipur Geospatial Skill Development Center.

Udaipur : Udaipur In the coming days, the intricacies of high-tech based geographical survey can be learned in the Geospatial and Skill Development Center established in Mohanlal Sukhadia University. This center will prove to be important for capacity building of personnel of government departments, especially Forest Department and Urban Development Department. This center has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore 41 lakh in the Geography Department of the University as part of a research project approved under the National Higher Education Campaign (RUSA-2). In the first phase of the campaign, Geography Building was built at a cost of Rs 70 lakh, which is now being technically strengthened.

This is the only university in Rajasthan, where a laboratory equipped with such modern technology has been established. Two state-of-the-art training halls have been built in Geography Building. In one of these halls, 35 computers equipped with state-of-the-art software have been installed. While the second hall is also equipped with a huge digital monitor. The Department of Science and Technical Education (DST) of the Central Government and the Department of Information and Technology (DoIT) of the State Government have made important contributions in its construction. 30 GIS (Geographical Information System) based licenses have been provided free of cost by DoIT in the computers of the training centre.

Through these software helpful in image processing technology, government personnel will be able to know and understand modern geographical survey techniques. Which will be helpful in the work of the state government. Apart from this, non-government training programs will also be conducted here for capacity building of the youth. Training will be given in the field of high level techniques of geographical survey in the Geospatial and Skill Development Center established under RUSA-2 in the University. On one hand, this center will be important for capacity building of government personnel. At the same time, by training the students in the latest techniques of geospatial science, they can be prepared for employment in various fields.
