The number of cancer patients is increasing day by day in Rajasthan, it is at 8th place in the country

Jaipur : Rajasthan is in the top 10 in the number of cancer patients across the country. According to new data, Rajasthan is at number 8 in the country. The number of cancer patients is increasing at an alarming rate across the country including Rajasthan. The number of patients has increased rapidly since the year 2019. During this period, the number of patients in Rajasthan has increased from 69 thousand to 76 thousand 665.

Uttar Pradesh tops in number of cancer patients

Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of cancer patients in the country, followed by Maharashtra. Rajasthan is at number 8. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Rao Jadhav gave this information in response to a question asked in the Rajya Sabha by Rajya Sabha MP and Rajasthan BJP state president Madan Rathore. In 2019, 13.58 lakh cancer patients were recorded in the country.

The number of cancer patients reached 14.96 lakh by December 2023

By December 2023, their number reached 14.96 lakhs. Mostly cases of oral cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer are being seen. There are 2.15 lakh cancer patients in Uttar Pradesh, 1.24 lakh in Maharashtra. West Bengal and Bihar are at third and fourth place.

Treatment available under Ayushman Bharat-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana

Its treatment is made available under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Treatment is free or is being provided at concessional rates in central medical institutions like district hospital, medical college, AIIMS.

83 cancer treatment products available

To make medicines available to cancer patients at subsidized rates, the maximum rate of 131 scheduled anti-cancer medicines has been fixed. The trade margin of 43 non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines has also been limited. The central government is also making 83 products available for cancer treatment at Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras. However, the Rajasthan government has done a historic work of including serious diseases like cancer in the day-care package.
