Jaipur : 6 Congress councilors of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation met BJP President CP Joshi. After which the party has issued a notice to take action against these Congress councilors. At the same time, a reply has also been sought to this notice. The Congress Party issued a notice to Manoj Mudgal, a councilor close to Pratap Singh Khachariyawas. Also, a reply to the notice has been sought within three days. Actually, ACB had taken action against Heritage Municipal Corporation Mayor Munesh Gurjar. At the same time, evidence has been found against Gurjar of being involved in corruption. In such a situation, Congress councilors had decided to support Munesh Gurjar along with BJP councilors to remove him from the post of mayor.
51 councillors are needed for majority
There are 47 Congress, 42 BJP and 11 independent councillors in Heritage. Out of these, 6 independents had supported Congress. 51 councillors are needed for majority in 100 wards. On the other hand, after meeting the Congress councillors, BJP’s state president CP Joshi said that the Congress councillors met me. They have expressed faith in the government of PM Narendra Modi and CM Bhajanlal Sharma. They have made some complaints against the Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage Mayor. A decision will be taken after considering their demands.
Mayor Munesh Gurjar accused of demanding bribe
On 4 August 2023, ACB raided the house of Municipal Corporation Heritage Mayor Munesh Gurjar. Munesh’s husband Sushil Gurjar was arrested on charges of demanding a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. Sushil Gurjar was accused of demanding bribe through two brokers to get the lease issued. ACB has found important evidence against Congress Mayor Munesh Gurjar. ACB had sought permission from the government to take action. After getting permission from the local body commissioner, a challan can be presented against both husband and wife together.
