Bhangarh Fort is located 50 km from Sariska Sanctuary between Jaipur and Alwar city. The fort was built in the 17th century by Raja Madhav Singh, the younger brother of the great Mughal commander Man Singh of Amer. Apart from the royal palace, Bhangarh also had more than 9000 houses by 1720, which later gradually disappeared. The fort complex contains remains of grand mansions, temples and deserted markets, which point to its golden history. The fort attracts a large number of tourists due to its peaceful atmosphere, picturesque Aravalli mountains and beautiful architecture.

There are many beliefs about this fort. The first belief is related to a saint named Baba Balau Nath. It is believed that the place where this fort is built belonged to this saint. In such a situation, the saint allowed the fort to be built on the condition that the fort or any building within it should not be higher than his house. If the shadow of any building falls on his house, then this fort will be destroyed. It is said that Madho Singh’s grandson Ajab Singh ignored this warning and increased the height of the fort too much, as a result of which the saint’s house collapsed and the city was destroyed.

Wires are also connected to Princess Ratnavati
The story of this fort being haunted is related to the princess Ratnavati. It is said that the princess was very beautiful, due to which a magician who was an expert in black magic fell in love with the princess. One day when the princess went shopping with her friends, the magician saw her buying perfume and replaced the perfume with a love potion. However, the princess came to know about the magician’s trick and threw the potion on a nearby stone. As a result, the rock rolled towards the magician and he died after being crushed by the rock. However, before dying, the magician cursed the city and said that it would soon be destroyed and no one would be able to live in its premises. Later the Mughal army invaded and captured the kingdom and killed all the residents of the fort including Princess Ratnavati.

People believe that if you put your ears near the walls of the houses of Bhangarh, you will hear the voices of spirits. Apart from this, the local people also believe that the sounds of a woman screaming, breaking bangles and crying often come from the fort. At the same time, some people who come to see this fort during the day say that they felt as if someone is following them in the fort.

Despite its scary stories, this fort is quite popular among tourists. You can come here anytime during the day. The nearest airport to reach here is in Jaipur. From where you have to cover a distance of about 80 kilometers to Bhangarh. You can complete this journey by tourist taxi or bus. If you are traveling by train, the nearest railway stations to Bhangarh are Bhankari Railway Station and Dausa Railway Station. Also, direct buses are easily available from major cities of the country. You can visit here from 6 am to 6 pm.
