The plaintiff’s advocate said, ‘Lord Shiva was worshiped here in ancient times.’

Ajmer, 27 November (IANS). The lower court on Wednesday approved the petition declaring the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, Rajasthan as a Hindu temple.

Vishnu Gupta, national president of Hindu Sena and plaintiff in the case, resident of Delhi, had presented the claim of Sankat Mochan Mahadev Temple in Ajmer Dargah on the basis of various evidences. A hearing on the merits of the petition was also held on Tuesday. A hearing was held in the court on Wednesday also. The court accepted the suit today.”

The suit was filed on behalf of the plaintiff Vishnu Gupta citing the book written by Harvilas Sharda, in which he has claimed that there is a Shiva temple in the Dargah of Ajmer. The next hearing in this case will be on December 20.

Plaintiff’s advocate Ramswaroop Bishnoi told IANS that notice summons have been issued to the three defendants, Dargah Committee, Indian Minority Ministry, Archaeological Survey of India. In response to a question, he said that in ancient times there was a Shiva temple here and he was worshiped here. We want to perform the same puja according to the Hindu method.

Ramswaroop Bishnoi said that in Harvilas Sharda’s book ‘Ajmer Historical and Descriptive’ he had mentioned that looking at this structure it seems as if it is from an old temple. Even today, there are some things in it which are related to Hindu tradition. The court has accepted the suit.

Vishnu Gupta said that after receiving the replies of the parties, “we will demand a survey from the court. We are hopeful that the survey will be done”.
