New Delhi, November 15 (IANS). On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda and Tribal Pride Day, a floral tribute program was organized in the Parliament House complex on Friday.
On this occasion, President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid tribute to Lord Birsa Munda by paying floral tributes at the statue of Prerna Sthal located in the Parliament House complex. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh and many other dignitaries also paid tribute to Lord Birsa Munda. On this occasion, tribal folk artistes from different states also gave cultural performances at Prerna Sthal in the Parliament House complex.
While President Draupadi Murmu was seen posing for photographs with these tribal folk artists at the programme, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were seen playing dholak and other instruments with them.
Sharing pictures of the program organized in the Parliament House complex, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Twitter, “To commemorate the beginning of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, today I participated in the program organized in the Parliament House complex and paid floral tributes. Jannayak Birsa Munda is a great symbol of the Indian national movement, the pride of the entire nation including the tribal society.
Birla said, “While celebrating ‘Tribal Pride Day’ today in the memory of Lord Birsa, we remember the role of tribal communities in the progress and aura of the country. With the preservation of art-traditions and coordination of heritage and development, we will take the country forward. Tribal society has always played an important role in development. Certainly, the life of Lord Birsa will be an ideal guide in fulfilling the promise of a developed India by the year 2047.
