Mumbai, November 28 (IANS). ‘The Sabarmati Report’ is receiving positive response across the country. The film has been made tax free in other states of the country as well as in Odisha. Producer Ekta Kapoor thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for this.
Producer Ekta Kapoor has thanked Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for making Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna starrer film tax free. On Thursday, the CM posted on his X handle, “It has been decided to make the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’ based on a true incident tax free in Odisha.
“The film shows how innocent people were burnt alive in the Godhra incident to fulfill their selfish interests and create unrest. This film brings before the people such hair-raising, heart-wrenching truth of the past. It will make the general public more aware.
Responding to the CM’s post, Ekta Kapoor wrote, “Heartfelt gratitude to CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Odisha government for making ‘The Sabarmati Report’ tax-free in the state. “This support will help bring the truth about an important chapter of our history to more people.”
‘The Sabarmati Report’ is based on the incident of burning of Sabarmati Express train. This incident happened on 27 February 2002. S6 coach of Sabarmati Express was set on fire by a mob near Godhra railway station in Gujarat. Actors Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna and Riddhi Dogra play the roles of journalists in the film.
Before Odisha, the film has also been made tax-free in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana.
