Jaipur : Jaipur’s historic Ram Niwas Bagh and Albert Hall are battling the growing menace of rats. The beauty and structure of both these sites has been seriously affected by the large population of rats. Rats have dug up the garden land and made innumerable burrows, due to which even the foundation of Albert Hall is in danger.
Government made a strong plan to deal with rats
Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has started a two-day campaign from Monday to deal with this problem. During this period, Ramniwas Bagh and Albert Hall will remain closed for Monday and Tuesday. JDA officials say that pesticides will be used on a large scale to control rats. In this campaign, rat holes will also be filled so that their numbers can be effectively controlled.
The number of rats was so much that even people of other states got scared.
JDA Secretary Nishant Jain said that special attention is being given to the maintenance of this garden and rat control activities. Director of Archeology and Museum Department, Pankaj Dharendra said that for some time now the number of rats has increased so much that not only the tourists but also the common people are facing problems due to this.
Rats are not afraid even of cats, dogs and hawks
It is said that there are thousands of rat holes here, in which a large number of rats live. He has become so fearless that even cats, dogs and eagles could not control him. For this reason, preparations have now been started to kill and exterminate them chemically. Due to this campaign against rats, people living nearby are now worried. They believe that these rats will not die but will instead run away and enter our homes.
Ramniwas Bagh was built in 1868
Around 1500-2000 tourists visit this site every day, and this number is expected to increase in the coming times. Ramniwas Bagh was built in 1868 by the then Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh and the foundation stone of the Albert Hall building was laid by the ‘Prince of Wales’ in 1876.
Due to this the number of rats increased
Keeping in mind the environment around the garden, officials said that zoo, bird park and other cultural activities are also being taken care of. Rats are increasing especially due to food, garden scavengers and bird feeders. It was extremely necessary to conduct this campaign to solve this problem.
