Bharatpur : In Rajasthan’s Deeg district, Kumher police took 6 contractors of the electricity department into custody on Sunday evening. All of them were planning to commit suicide by going to Jaipur Sodalla Chief Engineer’s office. Police also found petrol bottles from them, which were confiscated. Due to timely action by the police, a major incident was averted. However, after some persuasion at the police station, the police released everyone.
The matter reached the CM and Energy Minister
Kumher Thana Nidhari informed that the electricity department has not paid the previous bills of these contractors. In this regard, the contractors had also submitted a memorandum to the Kumher Tehsildar in the name of the Chief Minister and Energy Minister on September 10. It was written in it that if their demands are not heard by September 15, then all the contractors will commit mass suicide. The contractors also told in the memorandum that they are being forced to take this step due to non-payment of bills, less measurement, financial and mental harassment by the officials of Rajasthan State Electricity Administration Corporation Limited.
Payment not made for 6 months
The names of those who planned to commit suicide by pouring petrol include contractor Aravesh Katara, Amit Kumar, Abhdesh Kumar, Narendra Singh, Kapil Sharma and Mahesha. The police had detained all of them from Amit’s house. It was told that they are working as sub contractors for Padmavati Construction Jaipur and PP Enterprises Jaipur of Hiralal Avona in Sawai Madhopur for 132 KV GSS Rawajna Chaud, Ajanouti, Bauli, Pilwa Nadi. We got the work done with high quality and speed as per the instructions of the officers by taking money from people on interest and by keeping jewelry mortgaged. But even after 6 months, our deposited bills are not being cleared.
Death threats, demand for commission
The contractors alleged that we have already paid lakhs of rupees as commission. Still more commission is being demanded from us. When we met the officials, our pleas were not heard nor were we paid as promised. And bills were also not prepared. After this, the following employees went to the site and threatened to ruin my people and kill them in connivance with the local people and said that wherever you complain, our own people from our department will come for investigation.
