Jodhpur : These days the controversy over the name of the railway station in Rajasthan seems to be increasing. Actually, the Raika community is angry with the government for not changing the name of a railway station in Jodhpur. Now with the entry of leaders in support of this community, this matter seems to be gaining more importance. The people of the community want to change the name of Jodhpur’s suburban station Rai Ka Bagh to “Raika Bagh”. Regarding this, the people of the community took out a rally in Jodhpur on Monday and staged a protest. Meanwhile, Congress National General Secretary Sachin Pilot has written a letter to the Railway Minister regarding this.
‘The controversy that has arisen must be taken seriously’
Sachin Pilot has urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to change the name of Jodhpur Railway Division’s suburban railway station Rai Ka Bagh station to “Raika Bagh”. Sachin Pilot wrote in his letter that the controversy arising in Jodhpur should be taken seriously. The Raika Dewasi community has an emotional attachment and this land was given by their ancestors, which was named “Raika Bagh”.

Raika is a single word, which refers to the community. The Railway Department has written it as “Rai Ka Baag”. Due to which its meaning has changed and the sentiments of the people of the community have been hurt. The name of this place is also recorded as Raika Baag in the government revenue records. Let us tell you that the Raika Dewasi community has already registered its protest regarding this and is protesting. In such a situation, Sachin Pilot has now written a letter to the Railway Minister to draw attention.
Beniwal should come out in support of Dewasi community
Beniwal said that ‘The Devasi/Raika community of the state is agitating for the demand to correct the error in the name of Jodhpur’s Rai Ka Bagh Palace Junction railway station and change it to Raika Bagh Palace Junction. The Government of India and the Railway Ministry should correct the error in the railway records and change the name of this station from Rai Ka Bagh to Raika Bagh Palace Junction. Because the sentiments of the Devasi/Raika/Rabari community are also attached to it. I have also spoken to the officials of the Railway Ministry regarding this matter. The Rashtriya Loktantrik Party is fully supporting this demand of the Devasi community.’
