In the month of Shravan, devotees are moving towards Shiva temples. There is a Shiva temple in Mewar whose history is said to be from the Ramayana period. The special thing is that here a statue of Ravana is also installed in front of the Shiva ling and Ravana is worshipped before Shiva. It is believed that the Shiva ling was established by Ravana. Lord Rama also came here during his exile. Maharana Pratap has also been associated with this place.
Shiva’s devotees worship Ravana
We are talking about the Kamalnath Mahadev temple situated on a hill in Jhadol area of Udaipur district. There is an ancient temple of Shiva on the hill of Aawargarh in Jhadol tehsil, about 70 km from Udaipur. According to the religious tradition of Mewar, the worshipper is worshipped before God. Due to this, Lankapati Ravana is worshipped before the worship of Kamalnath Mahadev. The priest of the temple, Lalit Sharma, says that the devotees who come here also bow down to the worshipper Ravana along with Mahadev.
Shivling installation in legends
The priest tells that there is a story written about Kamalnath Mahadev, according to which Ravana brought a Shivling from Mount Kailash to please Lord Shiva. The Shivling was placed on the ground and got established here. According to mythology, Lord Rama came here during his exile. Maharana Pratap also spent time here during his difficult times during the war with Akbar.
