Jaipur : A big statement of Bhajan Lal government has come out regarding conversion amid by-elections in Rajasthan. The government is preparing to give strict punishment to those who convert religion and support it. Law Minister Jogaram Patel has disclosed this regarding this. He said that the government has made up its mind to take strict action against religious conversion. Due to this, the Law Department is busy finalizing the draft of the bill against religious conversion.
Strict action will be taken against those who convert
Law Minister Jogaram Patel has expressed concern over the increasing incidents of religious conversion in Rajasthan. He said that the government is going to bring a bill against religious conversion in the next assembly session. For this, the Law Department is busy preparing the draft of the bill. He said that if anyone converts someone by force or due to financial constraints, then it is wrong and will not be tolerated. Provisions for strict punishment will be brought against them in this bill. He said that the anti-conversion laws of other states of the country including Uttarakhand are being studied in this regard.
UPA government did not approve the bill twice
Let us tell you that the Religious Freedom Bill was passed twice in the state in 2006 and 2008, but it could not get approval from the UPA government at the Centre. Patel said that many provisions of the Freedom of Religion Bill-2008 will also be included in the latest bill. The Religious Freedom Bill of 2008 prohibited changing religion without the approval of the Collector.
