Jaipur : The Transport Department in Rajasthan stopped the high security number plate process after the order of the Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister, but the department does not have any future plan ready. In such a situation, more than 11 lakh drivers who have applied for the number plate and could not get the plate are confused. So far the department has not clarified under which process the drivers will get the refund. Also, under what process will the number plates be installed in the vehicles now. Here, the Transport Department had written a letter to SIAM and sought clarification. But till now no reply has been given by SIAM.
Challan will be deducted in other states
After the minister’s order, the High Security Number Plate (HSRP) process has now been stopped in the state. Vehicles that do not have HSRP will be fined in other states. In many states including Delhi and Haryana, vehicles without HSRP are fined. In such a situation, the problems of those drivers have increased.
The system has been in controversy before
The process of installing high security number plates has already been started by the Transport Department at the department level. The firm that took the tender in the RTO offices also started the work. But after complaints, the process started at the department level came under controversy, which was later stopped. The Transport Department stopped the process of installing high security number plates without any preparation. Before this, the department should have done its homework. If the department starts the process at its own level, then it will take a lot of time to start the portal. In such a situation, the drivers will be troubled till then. A solution to this will have to be found soon. – Hans Kumar Sharma, former Additional Commissioner, Transport Department
