Banswara : Autonomous Government Department on Friday issued guidelines regarding the delimitation of wards as part of the process of conducting elections for 158 bodies of the state including Banswara Municipal Council and Garhi-Partapur Municipality. According to the 2011 census, the number of wards in Banswara Municipal Council will be kept at 60 only. Similarly, in Garhi-Partapur Municipality only the existing 25 wards will remain.
According to the 14 year old census of Banswara Municipal Council area, ward delimitation will be done considering the population as 101017. The population of Garhi-Partapur is 22500. Approval will come from the state government after the process of delimitation of wards is completed. The bodies will complete the process of preparing ward proposals in their areas, examining them, preliminary publication, disposal of claims and objections and final publication.
This work will be completed from December 1, 2024 to March 1, 2025. The state government has included 20 wards of Ghatol municipality in this process considering the population of 14,049. It is noteworthy that the government had earlier withdrawn the status of local body from Ghatol, but due to the moratorium on the matter, it has also been kept included in the process. The delimitation of wards in Banswara was done only 5 years ago. Earlier there were 45 wards in the city which were increased to 60 wards.
