Greater Noida, November 29 (IANS). Greater Noida Authority has decided to install ultrasonic water meters to prevent wastage of water in group housing societies. The Water Department has also started work on this scheme.
As a pilot project, water meters have been installed in Valencia Homes located in Sector-1 of Greater Noida West and Arihant Society located in Sector 10. The trial will continue for one month. If the trial is successful, it will be implemented in other societies also. This meter has been prepared jointly by DRDO and IIT Chennai.
Actually, the groundwater level is continuously falling in Noida and Greater Noida. In this context, Greater Noida Authority is making continuous efforts to stop the falling groundwater level. The authority is using STP water for irrigation. Drinking water is being supplied from Ganga water. Now steps have been taken to stop wastage of water by installing meters.
Greater Noida Authority CEO NG Ravi Kumar has instructed the water department to install water meters at all bulk water users (group housing societies) to save water. There are more than 300 societies in Greater Noida. At present, this ultrasonic water meter has been installed in Valencia Homes and Arihant Society. After one month of testing, a decision will be taken to install it in other societies.
ACEO of Greater Noida Authority Ashutosh Dwivedi said that the meters will run on battery. It will be equipped with a SIM card sensor, through which real time data can be received by the authority, thereby real time monitoring can be done. It has been prepared jointly by DRDO and IIT Chennai.
It is being installed by a company named “Dhara”. With this, you will be able to get the bill as per the water expenditure. With this, people will spend water as per their need. Wastage of water will stop. Currently, water bill is collected according to the area. Even before this, a plan was made to install a water meter. But the problem was arising from where the meter would get electricity.
At the same time, CEO of Greater Noida Authority NG Ravi Kumar has appealed to the residents of Greater Noida to save water.
