There will be no municipal elections in Rajasthan this year, know the big reason

Jaipur : Municipal elections will not be held in Rajasthan this year. Urban Development and Housing Department Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra has revealed this in a special conversation with NDTV Rajasthan. The minister has said that the state government is preparing to implement the ‘one state, one election’ as well as the ‘one city, one body’ model. In such a situation, now municipal elections will be held along with the Panchayat elections (Rajasthan Panchayat Elections 2025) next year.

Kota-Jaipur-Jodhpur will have one municipal corporation

If the ‘one city, one body’ model is implemented in Rajasthan, then two municipal corporations each created in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota can be abolished. The Congress government had created two municipal corporations in these cities instead of one. That is, any 3 municipal corporations out of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation, Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation, Kota North Municipal Corporation, Kota South Municipal Corporation, Jodhpur North Municipal Corporation, Jodhpur South Municipal Corporation can be dissolved.

The tenure of the boards of the bodies will be extended

Till now, there was a discussion about holding the civic elections in the month of November. But in view of the ongoing exercise regarding the ‘One State One Election’ model, it was being speculated that the tenure of the boards of the 49 civic bodies whose term is ending in November can be extended by handing over their responsibility to the administration. If it has become clear from the statement of the minister that the responsibility of Beawar, Pushkar, Nasirabad, Tonk, Deedwana, Makrana, Bikaner, Churu, Rajgarh, Sriganganagar, Suratgarh, Hanumangarh, Alwar, Bhiwadi, Thanagazi, Mahua, Sikar, Neemkathana, Khatushyamji, Jhunjhunu, Bissau, Pilani, Phalodi, Jaisalmer, Barmer Municipal Council, Balotra, Sirohi, Mount Abu, Pindwara, Shivganj, Pali, Sumerpur, Jalore, Bhinmal, Kaithoon, Sangod, Chhabra, Mangrol, Bharatpur, Roopwas, Udaipur, Kanod, Banswara, Pratappuri Garhi, Chittorgarh, Nimbahera, Rawatbhata, Rajsamand and Amet bodies will be handed over to the administration.
