Jaipur : Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation has started preparations to rejuvenate the dilapidated bus stands. Roadways will modernize the bus stands on the lines of Gujarat model. Here passengers will be provided airport like facilities. Developing a bus stand with state-of-the-art facilities will cost Rs 150 to 200 crore. For this, work is being done on PPP mode (BOT). Roadways has started its process. Eight bus stands of the state have been included in the first phase. A survey has been conducted and a report has been prepared.

Roadways are running in loss. Roadways do not have funds for beautification. The corporation is incurring a loss of Rs 90 crore every month. The current condition is not even suitable for running the bus. But Roadways has land worth crores which will be used commercially and beautification will increase the income.
These 8 bus stands are included in the first phase
In the first phase, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Beawar and Bundi roadways have been included. For this, a consultant company has been appointed, which is preparing the plan. The government had announced in the budget to develop some bus stands. Kota and Dudu were also among them, but the Finance Department has objected to developing them on PPP mode. The department has given instructions to send the feasibility report first.
Separate arrangement for movement of vehicles
Bus stands will be developed in such a way that there is movement of not only passengers but also other people. Accommodation facilities including restaurant, cafe, AC waiting hall, ATM, accessible toilet will also be available at the bus stand. The facilities available in the mall will also be provided. Along with constructing a four-storey building at the bus stand, other facilities will also be there. The bus stand will be developed on the basis of heritage look and local culture.
Private developers invited
Bus stands are being developed on Gujarat model. Eight bus stands have been included in the first phase. Passengers will get to see state-of-the-art facilities at the roadways bus stand.
These bus stands are being developed on BOT basis. Private developers will be invited for this. A plan is being prepared as to how the roadways will earn income from the company. The company will develop the entire bus stand. The company will use a portion for commercial use. A mall will be built on it. Roadways will operate buses in the other part. Maintenance of the entire bus stand will be done by the company.
