Jodhpur : The water gauge in Bilada’s Jaswant Sagar Dam reached 25.80 feet by 4 pm on Thursday. Water is continuously flowing in from rivers and streams of Ajmer and Nagaur districts. The dam can overflow anytime due to the inflow of water. High alert has been issued in 13 villages of the submerged area due to continuous inflow of water in the dam. These villages have a population of about 65000. Preparations have been made at the administrative level to face every situation along with relief and rescue. Villagers are also engaged in taking their cattle to a safe place and securing essential items.

On Wednesday night, the local and district administration also lost their sleep due to the rumour of the dam’s embankment breaking and people in the 13 villages in the flood area remained in panic throughout the night. SE Rinesh Singhvi of the Irrigation Department reached the dam with his team at midnight from Jodhpur. Divisional Commissioner Pratibha Singh also reached the dam on Thursday. She gave instructions to fix the path of water flow in case of overflow.

Jaswantpura, Pichyak, Jhurli, Badi Khurd, Ramnagar, Bhavi, Malkosni, Bala, Lamba, Kanawasia, Olvi, Holpur and Padsala.

These are the preparations
The Irrigation Department’s control located at the dam is keeping an eye.
The Gram Panchayats of the villages in the submerged area have been asked to make arrangements for shelter homes and food and water.
Tractor-trolleys have been prepared to leave the villages in case of flood.

The dam was inspected on Wednesday night itself. The dam is completely safe. There is no danger anywhere. Water is flowing in and we hope that it will be filled to its full capacity by Friday night.
Prepared for every situation
Keeping in view the inflow of water in the dam, there is preparation to face every situation. There is better coordination between the irrigation department, disaster management and village panchayat administration. There is preparation to call SDRF along with relief and rescue from local resources.
