If you are planning to install solar panels on your roof, then you can apply for subsidy under the Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under the scheme, you will get a total subsidy of Rs 30 thousand for one kilowatt, Rs 60 thousand for up to 2 kilowatts and Rs 78 thousand for 3 kilowatts.
How to apply for PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme?
Domestic consumers can apply for rooftop solar under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana on the portal https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Follow these steps for registration.

Register in the portal with these things.
Select your state
Select your Electricity Distribution Company
-Enter your electricity consumer number
-Please enter the Mobile-Number
-Enter your email -Follow the instructions on the portal
Step 2 –
Login with consumer number and mobile number and apply for roof top solar as per the form.
Step 3
Once installation is complete, submit plant details and apply for net meter.
Step 4
After installation of the net meter and inspection by the Discom, they will be able to generate the commissioning certificate from the portal.
Step 5
After receiving the commissioning report, submit the bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within about one to two months.

Solar connections under PM Surya Ghar Free Bijli Yojana will be issued in urban areas and on 24 hour power supply feeders where three phase, single phase LT line is installed and domestic electricity connections established with three phase, single phase transformers. If there is a need to increase the capacity of the transformer, then the capacity of the transformer will be increased as per corporation rules. If the consumer demands load increase for solar connection, demand notice will be issued and deposited along with the solar file. (Rs 250 per kilowatt).
