Bharatpur : Sweets of different tastes are always made on the occasion of festivals and fairs in Rajasthan. Some of these are also made only on special occasions. One of the most famous sweets among these is “Bharatpur ke Khajale”, this sweet made from flour is made in different tastes. Its taste is both sweet and salty. Apart from this, this sweet is also eaten bland. It is always made on the occasion of Jawahar Exhibition Fair held in Deeg of Bharatpur district. The most special thing about this sweet is that its taste gets absorbed in the mouth of the people to such an extent that a special market is set up for it in the fair. People come to Bharatpur from far and wide to eat it.

How are these khajlas made

People come from far and wide to see the Jawahar Exhibition fair held in Deeg and do not leave without tasting Khajla. Therefore, they definitely taste it by going to the market. All kinds of sweet, salty, mawa based delicious Khajlas of many varieties are available in this market. This is the most sold sweet in the fair held in Deeg Bharatpur. Panna Lal Halwai, who makes Khajla, tells that it is prepared from refined flour. About 20 Khajlas are made from about 1 kg of flour, which are first fried in refined oil and puffed and then all are dipped in sugar syrup and separated. This sweet has been in existence since the time of kings and Maharajas. Its season lasts only for two months, September-October.

Khajla is big in size. The weight of one Khajla is about 200 grams. Khajla is made in three ways. Khoya Khajla costs about Rs 240 per kg. Salty Khajla costs Rs 160 per kg and sweet Khajla costs Rs 120 per kg. Khajla is the most sold sweet on the occasion of Jawahar Exhibition Fair in Deeg and Jaswant Exhibition Fair in Bharatpur.
