Jaipur : Jaipur: Due to less rainfall and doubling of the rate of groundwater exploitation, Jaipur district falls in the dark zone category. This time the monsoon has brought gifts of happiness to Jaipur district. After 15 years, this time in the monsoon season, 14 dams of the district became full to the brim simultaneously. Out of these, 10 dams are overflowing. It is believed that due to good inflow in the dams of Jaipur district this time, the picture of the dark zone category of the district can change.
ground water level will improve
Govindgarh, Shahpura, Kotputli, Jhotwara, Bassi, Fagi, Dudu, Jamwaragarh, Viratnagar and Sambhar areas of the district are included in the category of overexploited groundwater. In all these blocks, some or the other dam is getting filled or overflowing. There is a possibility of more rains. In such a situation, after the dams are filled, the groundwater level in these blocks will improve.
Water flowed into the drains
Groundwater Assessment Report-2023 states that the rate of groundwater exploitation in Jaipur city is 341 percent. The city has been receiving rains for the past one month. But hundreds of gallons of rainwater flowed into the drains. JDA, Municipal Corporation, Water Supply Department and other responsible departments did not make any efforts to save it.
These 14 dams of the district are full
Kanota, Khejri, Sheel Ki Dungri, Shiv Ki Dungri, Nevta, Raiwala, Kharar, Mansagar, Gular, Ramchandrapura, Buchara, Banedi, Chhaparwada, Hanuman Sagar, Bandolav, New Sagar, Kalakh, Hingonia, Pipla and Dhobolav
The way it is raining in Jaipur district and the dams are filling up, this will definitely improve the groundwater level. If the situation remains the same for the next one or two years, then Jaipur district can come out of the dark zone. We have to be cautious about groundwater exploitation and store rainwater as much as possible.
