Jaipur : The color of the bicycle given to the girl students by the Education Department is going to change. The BJP government will once again give saffron colored bicycles to the girl students. Education Minister Madan Dilawar said that there is no special purpose of changing the color of the bicycle. Before the tenure of the Congress government, when there was a BJP government in Rajasthan, even then the color of the bicycle was saffron. Congress had changed it to black. Therefore, its color is being changed to saffron again.
In fact, in Rajasthan, girls who have passed class 8th are given free bicycles by the government on taking admission in class 9th. The free bicycle scheme was started in the year 2009 to promote girl education in Rajasthan. At present, the number of girl students in class 9th in the state is 7 lakh 96 thousand 788.
Saffron colour is the symbol of valour and bravery- Dilwar
The Education Minister said that saffron colour is the symbol of valour and bravery. When our country became independent, patriots used to wear this colour and carry out revolution. Lord Surya gives light to the whole world. When he rises, he is of this colour. With this thought in mind, we have decided to change the colour of the bicycles to saffron. Its tenders have been issued. Let us tell you that changing the colour of the bicycles will put an additional financial burden of about Rs 15 crore on the government.
This scheme was started in 2011
Let us tell you that in Rajasthan, a scheme to distribute free bicycles to girl students was started in the year 2011 to promote girl education in rural areas, but with the change of government, the color of this bicycle has also been changing. However, free bicycles were last distributed in November 2021.
These bicycles will be distributed to 8 lakh girl students
Therefore, this time these cycles are to be distributed to about 8 lakh girl students in the state. Due to change in the colour of the cycles, the price of each cycle has increased by Rs 76. The cycle which was earlier purchased for Rs 3857. Now the state government will have to pay Rs 3933 for it.
