Udaipur : Udaipur Roadways has withdrawn the order to close the ticket counter at the depot. Here counter numbers 1, 3, 6 have been restarted. Due to their closure, passengers were facing problems like bus timings, confirmed seats, arbitrariness of conductors. Ticket counters 2, 4, 5 are still closed. At present one counter is responsible for two counters. This system will be back on track after the remaining counters are started. The management has kept the timing of counter 6 from 1 pm to 9 pm and the timing of counter numbers 3 and 6 from 5 am to 5 pm. Let us tell you that Roadways had closed ticket counters at depots across the state citing shortage of employees.

The duty of these employees was put on the route. The union had alleged that counters have been closed across the state to hand over the roadways to private hands. Around 300 buses including 82 buses from other depots operate daily from Udaipur depot. 14 thousand passengers come and go every day. The daily revenue from ticket sales at the counter was more than Rs 14 lakh. Buses are operated from the depot to small and big cities of the state as well as Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Many buses were leaving before time

Due to closure of ticket counters, availability of seat numbers in buses had stopped. Due to this, fights among the passengers started increasing. Operations were also beginning to be affected. Many buses started leaving before time. Due to which many passengers started complaining about missing the bus despite having online tickets. Elderly people, women and children were facing problems due to seats not being confirmed. Along with this, there was no one available to give information about the buses to the passengers. Only online ticketing system was operational for booking confirmed seats. But the big problem was that only about 5% of the bus tickets are booked online.
